      Introduction

The Western Han Dynasty quarry was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit in May 2006. The basic unit of the quarry site is the open pit. In the process of rock excavation, the artisans skillfully exploit the natural conditions such as the trend of the rock, the crack and the texture of the rock to mine the stone. The main quarrying and excavation technology of the quarry site is similar to that of the inner sealing stone of the Western Han Dynasty tombs and medium-sized tombs in Xuzhou, and the remaining excavation tools also have obvious Han Dynasty style. In particular, the excavation of a large number of pottery fragments and "five baht" coins in some quarries proves that the age of the quarry site is the Western Han Dynasty, which may continue to the early Eastern Han Dynasty. There are many tombs of the King of Chu in the Western Han Dynasty in Xuzhou, all of which are sealed with large stones, and medium-sized tombs are mostly sealed with stones. However, no quarrying sites have been found before. In the process of rock mining, artisans skillfully exploit the natural conditions such as rock trend, rock fissure and rock texture. The mined stone is 1.2 - 3 meters long and 0.7 - 1.4 meters wide. According to the analysis of excavation and clearing, there are several kinds of stone quarrying techniques in the Han Dynasty. First, according to the size and trend of the rocks, slightly trim, chisel out wedges around, insert chisels, wedges and other objects, and knock stones. Second, along the rock trend, select the place with better rock quality, and dig grooves around the rectangular stone. After reaching the predetermined depth, chisel the wedges from both sides or four sides of the stones, fill them with chisels, wedges, etc., and knock and crack the stones. There are residual gravels in the quarry. The gravels are mixed with iron filings, most of which have been rusted into small round balls. Quarrying tools, such as wide chisel, flat chisel and chisel, are also found in some stone pits.
